This title, also known as "The Revelation", was released for home computers in 1991 as a proper sequel after the flop that was Gauntlet: The Third Encounter. It continues the adventures of the four heroes, and adds in four new ones. Gauntlet III adds a new graphic twist, changing from top-down to a 3D-like isometric view, like Diablo; this view would persist in Gauntlet: Legends and beyond.

Story[]

The Kingdoms of Capra were often in conflict with each other. Wars between the kingdoms was commonplace, with violence widespread. A mighty wizard, Magnus, managed to deliver peace to these kingdoms, but decided to pose an ultimatum as a method to enforce this. This curse would unseal a portal to a dimension full of monsters, but only if the ill wishes and violent methods of the citizens returned. He declared this the Final Peace (one way or another).

However, the monsters trapped behind in the dimension had their own servants. The leader of the servants, called Capricorn, captured Magnus. Capricorn was unable to break Magnus' seal, but instead used Magnus' spell to his favor. He commanded servants to spread violence, disease, and poison into the Kingdoms of Capra. The people, agitated by the spread of evil, resumed their own dark ways, causing Magnus' binding spell to become more and more thin. To prevent this, eight champions of Capra were summoned, determined to put an end to Capricorn's evil and return peace to Capra.
