The Key is a ubiquitous item in the Gauntlet series. They are typically yellow in color and each key can open one locked door or treasure chest. Generally, a hero can hold only a certain amount of keys. They are an invaluable item and can prevent player progress if they run out, forcing a restart. As such, it is advised to always have at least one key in the inventory, if at all possible, at all times.

Appearances

Gauntlet

Gauntlet II

Both Bomb Potions and Keys take up the same inventory space, so heroes must be cautious about filling up their inventory.

Gauntlet: The Third Encounter

Gauntlet III: The Final Quest

Gauntlet IV

Gauntlet: Legends

Keys can be purchased from Sumner's Tower, so now there's no excuse to not have a decent stock. Players can also obtain Key Rings, which contain 2-4 Keys. Key rings will only vanish once all of the keys on the ring have been taken. A hero can only hold 9 Keys.

Gauntlet: Dark Legacy

Keys can be purchased from Sumner's Tower, so now there's no excuse to not have a decent stock. Players can also obtain Key Rings, which contain 2-4 Keys. Key rings will only vanish once all of the keys on the ring have been taken.

Keys come in a small variety of types, Silver, Gold, and Magic.
