Loot. Shinies. Money. Plunder. An essential part of Gauntlet is the accumulation of untold wealth. Collecting treasure is a primary goal of heroes, as is destroying Generators, eating Food, and generally trying to survive to 'til the next exit. Treasure is typically displayed as an open chest filled to the brim with glittering coins and gems. It can appear in other forms, from bags to barrels of valuables. Treasure often appears in Treasure Rooms, oddly enough.
Not to be confused with:
- Coin: These are used to unlock the Beast Within for a character while in Treasure Rooms in Legends and Dark Legacy.
- Golden Icon: These are used to unlock sealed sections of Sumner's Tower in Dark Legacy.
- Crystals: These are used to unlock new Realms in Dark Legacy.
Treasure is worth 100 points.
Gauntlet II introduced locked chests, and a Key is needed to open them. Locked chests may contain other things than simply treasure, ranging from items like Repulsion and Super Shot, to a nasty case of Death.
Certain tiers of Treasure increase a hero's maximum health, making it nearly a necessity to collect.
In Quest mode, Treasure can be used to purchase items and new equipment.
Legends introduced different kinds of treasure piles, each with different kinds of worth. Treasure can be spent in Sumner's Tower to purchase stat upgrades and even basic necessities like Food, Bomb Potions, and Keys.
Treasure here has the sole purpose of purchasing new attacks.
